After all, the only rule of travel is, don’t come back the way you went. Come a new way – (Anne Carson)
Just because I am Venetian, I like the genuine aspects of the city, its art, its history, its original traditions, its slow flowing time so far away from frenzy noise of big city……
…I’ll be happy to share all that with you!
I live n Venice and I love my city, so different and unique. I graduated in history of art and worked for the city educational services for many years. I became a registered guide in Venice in 2000 (after sitting for an exam organized by the Regione Veneto).
If possible, I would suggest you to visit Venice in low- mid- season, not in July and August when the city is very crowded and hot. I also like Venice in the winter: a misty day in Venice is fabulous! I would suggest you a tour in the “real” Venice”: a nice walk in the off-the beaten paths of Castello, Cannaregio or Dorsoduro. If you are art lovers – as I am!- , I could suggest you a tour of our museums and main churches, if you like food and wine I would suggest Rialto market area and its lively wine-bars. To everybody I would suggest Saint Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace, early in the morning, with no crowds. At the end, to relax, a tour by water-taxi alongside the Gran Canal to admire Venice from its natural element: water.
