Carnival starts in Venice and the rowing clubs arrange a mocking event of the better known Flight of the Angel, called The rise of the Rat. Colourful boats along the Grand Canal reach the Canal Cannaregio, rowers in fun costumes and masks participate and join the residents in a lively social event at the end, eating and drinking together
