The Venice Biennale: Central Pavillion at the Giardini

The Venice Biennale was the first international art exhibition.
In fact, it has been held since 1895 and since then it has branched out into further sections, such as architecture, cinema, music and theatre.
The countries initially called to exhibit the works of their artists have been joined by new ones over the years, making the Biennale one of the most important cultural events in the world.

Every two years, a large exhibition dedicated to the visual arts takes place, alternating with an architecture exhibition, offering visitors the most interesting and significant international productions from the two areas.
In order to account for the vast and complex artistic output, over time the Venice Biennale has grown with the addition of new spaces; in addition to the historic site of the Giardini, the exhibition today also includes some areas of the ancient Arsenale.
These two venues host many of the national pavilions and the thematic exhibition which features artists from all over the world.
