You may visit Venice once in a lifetime, but it takes more than a lifetime to understand Venice.

My archaeological background is related to the study of the Past, my curiosity tunes me to the Present.
My mission is to explain Venice’s current reality through its history.

My background

After high school I started studying engineering, ready to follow in my father’s footsteps; but my great passion, archaeology, soon made me change my path.

I earned a BA in Cultural Heritage Management in 2002 and an MA in Archaeology in 2004, both at  Ca’ Foscari University in Venice. My main fields of specialization are Medieval Archaeology and Islamic Archaeology.

The time I spent studying and working abroad gave me the chance to enhance my knowledge of the English and Spanish languages, and also to learn the basics of Arabic.

In 2009 I became a qualified guide for the City of Venice.

My advice

My favorite topic is the long-standing link between Venice and the Orient.
From the majesty of St. Mark’s Basilica to the shape of the Doge‘s hat, from the curves of Byzantine arches to the taste of sarde in saor (Venetian sardines), the influence of eastern culture – first  Byzantine, then Arabic and Turkish – pervades the alleys and squares of this city.
